It is my passion to support expecting people and their families. Preparing for birth is a big endeavour, an occasion that merits consideration and care. My role in that journey is to provide information for the physical, spiritual and emotional elements of labour, birth and early parenthood.

Whenever and however you give birth, your experience will impact your emotions, your mind, your body and spirit for the rest of your life.

As a doula, I do...

  • Provide perinatal education

  • Understand the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of a labouring person

  • Assist you and your partner in preparing for and carrying out your birth wishes

  • Stay with you throughout your labour and delivery

  • Provide emotional support, physical comfort measures, as well as information to ensure you are able to make informed decisions

  • Facilitate communication between you, your partner and your health care providers

  • Support your partner to participate in the birth to their comfort level

As a doula, I do not...

  • Perform clinical tasks, such as checking blood pressure, performing fetal heart checks, cervical exams, etc.

  • Make decisions for you. I will help to provide the information necessary for you to make the best decision for you and I will also remind your if there is a departure from your initial birth wishes.

  • Speak to your caregivers on your behalf. I will discuss your concerns and options, but you or your partner will speak directly to your caregivers or clinical staff.
